Marty Takes the Prize

In RockBandLounge.com's Rock Star: All Stars competition, Marty Casey of the Lovehammers won it all!

In the final week of competition, Toby Rand was eliminated, leaving Marty and JD Fortune to go head to head, much like they did on Rock Star: INXS. However, while JD won the first time around and got to become the new lead singer for INXS, this time Marty was crowned the Ultimate Rock Star.

He has been gracious enough to even visit RockBandLounge.com himself in order to give an acceptance speech. You can read it here.

Kudos go out to all the different fan groups who made this game successful and fun! There were many active fanbases already at RockBandLounge.com, but many others came out to support their favorites. The ladies at TeamMig set the tone for the whole game, and the Hammerheads came out in droves in the final weeks of the competition to bring it home for their boy. Storm's fans, Magni's fans, Toby's fans, JD's fans, Ryan's fans, and so many others were loyal to their favorites throughout, but in the end...Marty is the Ultimate Rock Star.

On a side note, Producer Dave from the Rock Star series followed the competition throughout, and he also dropped by to give a little hint about a new project he is working on for MTV. Let's just say, we will be seeing more of several of the members of the House Band, and they will be working with the kids of stars! Should be interesting. RockBandLounge.com will be following the show, so be sure to head over there for more information!

The Final Week

So we are down to the final week of RockBandLounge.com's Rock Star: All Stars competition. The top three left for the finale week are Marty Casey, JD Fortune, and Toby Rand. This last week, we said goodbye to Mig Ayessa.

Toby has been in the Bottom 3 several times in the last several weeks, but just keeps on keeping on. JD was in the Bottom 3 for the first time this past Tuesday, and pulled through in a close vote. Marty has not had a trip to the Bottom 3 during the course of the All Stars competition.

If you want to see your favorite crowned the Ultimate Rock Star, be sure to head to RockBandLounge.com and cast your vote! Register early so there are no complications. Sunday, there will be a vote from midnight to midnight Pacific time. The bottom vote getter from that vote will be out of the competition, and the final two will duke it out again on Tuesday.

Waving to My Lovely Readers

It feels like forever since I've blogged! I'm sorry for that. It's been a rough start to the new year. To start with, my trusty (laugh) laptop decided to crash once again. Then I started a new part time job on campus, and school started back up. I haven't had a whole lot of free time, especially considering that (as an English major) I've had about 800 pages worth of reading to do in the last week. Oh well, c'est la vie!

So, I'll apologize in advance for my lack of blogging this semester. It likely will not happen with the frequency that I had been blogging at in prior months, and for that I am very sorry. I'm sure you will all get along just fine without me blathering on about a bunch of nothing.

I will go ahead and say though, that with my new eating habits I have already lost about 9.5 pounds! Not a bad way to start out the new year. Hopefully I can keep that going. It would be really nice to need to buy new clothes in a few months, because these are all falling off of me. REALLY nice.

I have not kept up with my Project Runway Rundown, but I'll say that I hated seeing Kevin leave, and I loved the combination of Chris and Christian in the Avante Garde challenge. FIERCE, FEROSH, and totally FABULOUS!

I also haven't kept everyone abreast of the happenings in RockBandLounge.com's Rock Star: All Stars competition. At this point, we are down to the final four: JD, Marty, Mig, and Toby. Who will win? We'll have to wait and see. Be sure to head over there and cast your vote though!

I will try not to force you all to wait so long for my next blog, but I can make no promises. Au revoir! (Can you tell that I'm trying to relearn French? That's one of my classes this semester...)

New Year, New Me???

I am fat.

There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Calling myself "overweight" is really kind of sugar coating the issue, and does me no good in any way, shape, or form. So I'm just going to call a spade a spade and say that I'm fat.

I've struggled with my weight my whole life. I've tried diets and weight loss programs...and I've had some limited success with some of them. But it seems like whatever I manage to lose, I eventually gain back and then some. It doesn't help anything that I live a basically sedentary lifestyle. I'm a college student, so I sit in a classroom all day long. I might walk across campus to get to another class, but seriously, how far is that? Not too far. When I work part time on campus, it is almost always a desk job. I have weak ankles that sprain easily, and I have asthma, and I use those things as excuses to not get up off my fat ass and exercise. I eat too much. I don't eat a balanced diet of what I do eat.

A few months ago, I weighed over 310 pounds. I finally tried Splenda instead of using regular sugar in my coffee and tea. I've gotten to where I like Splenda as well as sugar...so I'm using it a lot. And I'm cutting WAY back on sodas (I only have one or two a week these days). And I have started to buy the sugar free flavored creamers for my coffee. Not really huge changes. I've still been being a couch potato and not exercising, and I've been eating the same (or worse over the holidays) as I typically do. But I weighed myself this morning, and I am down 20 pounds! TWENTY POUNDS!!! From cutting out sugar? Wow. Who knew?

I also recently discovered that they are making a version of Diet Coke with Splenda now...you have to look for it, but it is out there. So I'm trying to switch to where I am drinking those for my one to two sodas a week. As far as my eating habits are concerned, the first major change I am going to try to accomplish is to simply limit my portion sizes. I think if I do that, I will start to lose even more weight. And on top of all of that, this morning I visited the campus gym. I worked out for about an hour, with some brisk walking on the treadmill and weight training. I've discovered that it is free for students...and my Mom is thinking about joining as well to work out with me. We both need to seriously lose weight.

I'm not calling all of this a New Year's Resolution...if I do, I am sure to fail. I'm just going to try to make simple changes to the way I live my life, and hopefully they will have big results in the long term. I'm done with dieting. Diets don't work. I want to change how I perceive myself, and how the world perceives me.

I don't always watch The Biggest Loser on TV, though I've watched bits and pieces of it for years. But I just watched quite a bit of a marathon on TV over the weekend, and I watched the premiere episode of The Biggest Loser: Couples last night. I may not manage to lose weight as quickly and effectively as they do...but I am going to use them as inspiration.

If only I had Trainer Bob here to push me...

So Long Ryan...For Real This Time

This week at RockBandLounge.com's Rock Star: All Stars competition, Ryan Star got the boot again. It was a close race between Ryan and his fellow Vote Back winner Zayra Alvarez, but Ryan is the one to leave this time.

If you want to see Zayra and Storm Large (the other member of this week's Bottom 3) remain in the competition, be sure to head over to RBL and vote for them on Sunday.

Also, don't forget that this coming week will have another Double Elimination, so it is imperative to vote for your favorite on Sunday!
