Wanna Hear Analog Heart?

You know you do. Just admit it. It's okay.

I'm sorry that there's not somewhere you can go right now to purchase it online...there are only promises that you will be able to buy the album again "soon" (whenever that may or may not be). So in the meanwhile, if you are one of those poor unfortunate souls who didn't get to download it before it was pulled from Amazon and other online sources, at least you can hear it here.

Enjoy!

C is For Cookie!

That's good enough for me...

Seriously folks, I have always had a thing for Cookie Monster. Kind of a secret obsession. And this lovely person who goes by IHeartJakeToo on Youtube created a kind of personal heaven for me. So thank you...thank you for fulfilling a personal fantasy of mine. LMAO.

I am still laughing over this...

Yes Ladies, He is Single...

Over the last several weeks, there has been a lot of speculation and rumors floating around about the eligibility of a certain Mr. David Cook. It all started with this OK Magazine report which claimed that claimed he was hooking up with So You Think You Can Dance dancer Lacey Schwimmer.

While it is certainly possible that this has been going on, according to David himself, he is SINGLE. Yes, that's right. He says he's single. In fact, he mentioned it about a week later on live TV.

Thanks to Bluefox11 for adding a few fitting touches to this priceless moment. Not only did he mention it there, but if you watch the following Behind the Scenes spot, he once again mentions that he is single...and that he peruses Cosmo, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Vanity Fair, etc.

It is pretty clear that Cookie wants his fans to know that he is single...

Hmmmm...

So...apparently the other online source for buying David Cook's solo album Analog Heart has also pulled it. I hate to tell y'all, but I don't know where you can get it right now. It seems like something or someone has forced this pull. I don't know whether it is David himself who has pulled the album, or some of his friends and family, or if it is the American Idol machine who are behind it. I'm sorry. I hope you all can buy it again soon!

On another note, I hate that we had to say goodbye to Carly Smithson on this week's elimination night. I think she is a phenomenal singer, and I was certain that she would be the last girl standing. Luckily, she's got a great hubby and family, and they are all being very supportive of her after her elimination. I'm sure, like Michael Johns, she will be signed to a record deal in almost no time. She deserves it.

I also understand that plans are already underway for the remaining five contestants for their hometown visits, should they make it to the Top 3. I wish I could make it out to Blue Springs, MO to support David Cook, but I don't think that's going to happen. So, instead, I'm hoping that Jason Castro winds up in the final 3, and if he does, I'll drive over to Rockwall to see him. He's not my Cookie, but he's pretty awesome in his own right. I'll be sure to bring him some Cheetos.

Cookie Does Broadway???

So...it seems like a number of people were surprised when American Idol strutted out Andrew Lloyd Webber week, and David Cook knocked Music of the Night out of the ballpark. How the heck can this guy be this good???

It seems that a lot of people didn't realize that David actually has quite a background in doing musical theater. And we already knew that he had an amazing voice and tons of control over it. So, hitting those GORGEOUS glory notes shouldn't have really been a surprise. Especially after watching him perform Make 'Em Laugh from Singin' in the Rain in a high school theater production.

It can even be traced further back than high school. David credits his elementary school music teacher with encouraging him to sing. Here he is singing a solo in his 5th grade Christmas production. The video quality here is bad...but you can hear his sweet little voice in it really well.

Oh yeah, and if you haven't purchased the studio version of David's Music of the Night yet...DO IT NOW! Seriously. It is beyond perfection. He hits all the notes he hit in the live performance, only somehow even more clearly and perfectly. It is gorgeous. It will make you melt into a puddle of goo on the floor over and over and over again. So go and download it. You won't regret it.

So, next week they will be performing songs from the Neil Diamond songbook. Part of me hopes Cookie will perform Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon. Which likely means that he'll go with something completely different that has us all in a panic about how he'll manage to pull it off, which actually means that he'll hit another homerun with it, and we'll all be in awe of how he could manage to do that song and make it sound like himself, but WOW he did it! Stay tuned. I know I will be.

Help! Where Can I Buy Analog Heart?

Since Amazon pulled David Cook's solo album Analog Heart, many people have been scrambling to figure out where to find it. No worries...you can still purchase it here. EDIT: Analog Heart has been pulled from this site too. Sorry.

Photobucket

However, with no explanation as of yet as to why the album was pulled from Amazon, there is no telling how long it will be available for sale, so don't put it off. Go and download it right now! You don't want to miss out on your chance to have this album...it is a must-have for any David Cook fan.

A Message to Roger Friedman

That's right folks, he's at it again. Three days in a row, this idiot has now published "articles" blasting current American Idol contestants for having albums available for sale while they are competing on the show. I hate to say it, but at least time this time he isn't going after David Cook, but instead is attacking Carly Smithson. Not that I think ANY of them should be attacked...it's just nice to see it isn't a full-on assault of only one contestant. But apparently Roger felt that he was such a success with having David Cook's solo album Analog Heart pulled from Amazon, that the thought he'd take a stab at the next one on his list.

So in today's "article", our friend Roger blasts Carly's album released under her maiden name, Carly Hennessey. Roger, honey, have you not caught on yet that there is NO RULE whatsoever that states that contestants could not have formerly recorded albums, and could not have formerly had recording contracts? Seriously. It's getting to be a bit ridiculous.

Yes, Carly had a major record deal. She recorded a big budget album. She worked with producers that people have actually heard of. Big whoop!

And frankly, if the record company that she was signed with at the time did put as much money into it as you claim they did, and it sold as poorly as it did at the time, I can't say I blame them for attempting to reap whatever rewards they might be able to get out of having it still for sale while she is on the show. I can promise you that if you're numbers are right about all of that, Carly isn't going to be seeing one penny of the money made on sales of that album. She likely still owes them money for the cost of the production. So what does it matter if she has an album for sale at Amazon, especially one that isn't particularly doing so well? What is it hurting?

And I suppose tomorrow you will discover Brooke White's album. And the day after that, we can expect you to find Kristy Lee Cook's album, and discover that she, too, had a recording contract when she was a teenager. Then one more day will pass, and you will realize that Michael Johns has an album, and had more than one recording contract over the years.

What next? Will you then look into the fact that there were Idols on previous seasons who had also had recording contracts before their days on Idol? Because there were. And some of them had also recorded albums before they made it onto the show, and those albums were available for sale while they were on the show.

You see, Roger, the thing is...this is not against the rules of the game. And honestly, why should it be? If they had a shot at stardom, and things happened which prevented it from happening the first time, who are you to decide that they shouldn't have a second shot at it, especially if they are as good as you think Carly Smithson is? Why limit them? If they have that kind of talent, what is the problem with allowing them to obtain the exposure they need in order to make a serious go of their music careers through whatever means is available to them? Why limit AI to only those singers who have never even stepped foot into a record company's offices, let alone a recording studio? It just doesn't make sense. And frankly, it leads many people to believe that you have some sort of ulterior motive for attacking these kids. So what's the deal, Roger?

I anxiously look forward to reading tomorrow's "article"...

And the Idiot is Proud of Himself

So, our "friend" Roger Friedman from Fox News seems pleased with his part in having David Cook's album, Analog Heart, pulled from download at Amazon.com. You can read about it here.

He thinks he's orchestrated this huge revelation. I really kind of feel sorry for him. But not as much as I am disgusted by him. What is his problem with David Cook? Why does Mr. Friedman feel the need to attack him and remove the source his fans have for obtaining some of David's original music?

There is a reason that Cookie's fans are rabid and have a need to get their hands on anything and everything they can. He's good. Really good. Maybe Mr. Friedman is a wee bit jealous of his talent. Who knows?

But sadly, the drama continues. I really wish everyone would just leave David Cook alone and let him do what he is there to do. His brother Adam put it really well...David has a job to do. Let him do his freaking job already, and leave things that have NOTHING whatsoever to do with his performing on American Idol alone.

Enough already.

P.S. See this post to find out where you can (at least at the moment) still download Analog Heart. It is worth it. Screw the haters.

Idiot "Reporters" and the Drama They Stir Up

So...over the last few days, I've been directing y'all to head over to Amazon.com and to purchase David Cook's solo album, Analog Heart. Sadly, if you click on that link...you'll discover that it is no longer available for purchase. Why on earth would that be? Why, when only a day ago you could purchase the album, and when it was at the TOP of Amazon's downloads, would this album be pulled?

It might have a little something to do with this "article" that is calling David out on releasing an album while he is on AI.

The problem with this "reporter's" allegations is that he has no clue what he's talking about. David's album was released in May of 2006...not while he was on the show. It was released independently, not under any sort of major record label. And he is not signed to any contract currently (nor has he ever been, to my knowledge)...which is what AI requires.

Michael Johns has discussed repeatedly how he had not auditioned for AI before this season, because the timing wasn't right. He was signed to record deals in previous years, and that prevented him from meeting AI's rules. However, he has albums that are currently available for sale, and were available for sale throughout his entire run on American Idol. Go to iTunes, and search for his previous bands The Rising and Film. You'll find albums there that you can purchased and downloaded. Oh yeah, and he recorded a solo album too. It's not available for purchase right now...but you can head over to this Facebook page and listen to it.

Hmmmmm...and you know what? David Cook and Michael Johns aren't the only ones who have previously recorded and released albums that are in this year's crop of contestants on American Idol.

What? You mean, there are more than just the two rockers who have recorded albums before this???

Yes. That is exactly what I mean. You can purchase Brooke White's album at Amazon. And in addition to Michael Johns, two of the other contestants had previous recording contracts. Carly Smithson recorded an album under the name Carly Hennessey, and it is still available to be purchased at Amazon. Like Carly, Kristy Lee Cook had a record deal several years ago, and also has an album, Devoted, available for sale.

So what is the big deal about David Cook's album being out and available for sale? Why is there so much drama surrounding him? The only thing that comes to mind is that his album was doing so well, and people want to spark more controversy. It wasn't enough to call him out for covering covers of songs (and since when is that a crime???), in the hopes that people will stop voting for him because he is "ripping off" these other bands and artists. It wasn't enough to start rumors about a possible romance with Lacey Schwimmer, leading all of his young female fans to tears over the fact that they will never be his girlfriend, and hope that people will stop voting for him because of that. It wasn't enough to harp on the fact that the man has high blood pressure and had to go to the hospital to have it checked out after a performance one night.

With all of the positive press that David Cook is receiving right now (related to his big heart), those who are determined to see the other David win are getting worried. Cookie is gaining in popularity each week. He is getting more and more votes each week. His songs are consistently downloaded the most on iTunes. David Cook is a contender. He could win it all. And that is scaring some who have already in their own minds coronated David Archuleta as this year's American Idol.

Well, guess what? David Archuleta hasn't won yet. And he might not. David Cook could pull this out, and take home the crown. I hope for his sake that he does.

So...was David's album pulled from sale at Amazon because of this "news article"? Did the AI producers force it to happen? Or was it David's choice to pull the album? Those questions remain to be answered. I hope it was David's choice, but I can't help but feel that regardless of his wishes in the matter, it was forced by the Fox News "article" linked above that really doesn't have much credibility. There is nothing in the AI rules that states they can't have recorded and released an album prior to auditioning. There is nothing that states that those albums can't be available for sale. And if his album has been pulled from sale, why haven't the rest of them been pulled as well?

Something is rotten in the state of American Idol...

P.S. You can still head here and purchase David Cook's solo album...but hurry, there is no telling how long it will be there.

David Cook - Analog Heart Lyrics

*waving to my readers*

It seems that a lot of you are finding me while trying to find the lyrics to David Cook's solo album, Analog Heart. Sadly, I only had snippets on my blog for you of some of them. If you really want to know what they are, I suggest you head here. This is where I found them. It really is a beautiful album with lots of great songs.

Also, if you haven't done so already, head over to Amazon.com and download it! You won't regret it.

And then once you've got the album, and have read all the lyrics and memorized them by heart (yes, you know you will!), come back over here and tell me what song is your favorite and why!

David Cook: American Idol Performances

So...I just can't get enough of this guy. Seriously. I am listening/watching/searching for stuff from him constantly. I think I am now officially addicted to Cookies. No need to stage an intervention for me though...I'm rather enjoying myself!

So, if you are one of those people who've been living under a rock for the last few months, and you have no clue who I'm gushing about, I've decided to give you a little taste. Granted, YouTube video is nothing in comparison to seeing him live on a big screen TV...and even less to seeing him live on a big screen HDTV...and beyond nothing, I'm sure, to seeing him perform live and in person. But, it'll give you a taste. Hopefully, it'll give you enough of a taste that you decide to tune in on Tuesday night...and maybe even to throw some votes his way!

Our first glimpse of him was his audition, where he rocked some Bon Jovi, Living on a Prayer.

In Hollywood Week, he took on Bryan Adams: Everything I Do, I Do For You.

For the Top 24 (60's Week), he took on The Turtles' Happy Together.

In the Top 20 (70's Week), he did All Right Now by Free.

For the Top 16 (80's Week), David took a huge risk by performing Hello by Lionel Ritchie.

Top 12 week brought The Beatles, and Eleanor Rigby.

The Top 11 brought a second week of Beatles music, with Day Tripper from Cookie.

For the Top 10, the theme of The Year They Were Born prevailed, leading David to do Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, only with some pretty major twists.

The Top 9 worked with Dolly Parton, and David chose to perform Little Sparrow.

In week 8, the Top 8 chose Inspirational songs. David's choice was Innocent by Our Lady Peace.

The Top 7 all performed Mariah Carey songs, and David made a rock song out of Always Be My Baby.

This next week will be yet another challenge for American Idol 7's resident rocker, with their song choices centering around Andrew Lloyd Webber. However, after seeing what David has done with songs like Happy Together, Billie Jean, Hello, Little Sparrow, and Always Be My Baby, I have no doubt that he will find a way to completely suit whatever song he chooses to his own voice and style.

Vote for Cookie!

David Cook - Analog Heart

So I recently posted about one of my two favorites from this season's American Idol, Michael Johns. Today...today, it is all about David Cook. You can just call him Cookie. I do. I love Cookies. They are yummy. And yes, I'm saying that David Cook is yummy...at least he looks like he would be. I have (sadly) not tasted him to be sure.

Anyways. *clears throat* Um...what was this blog going to be about? Hmmm...Cookies...Cookies and milk? No, that's not right. No.

Oh yeah. David Cook's solo album, Analog Heart. If you haven't heard this guy sing on American Idol, you need to crawl out from under the rock you've been using to hide yourself from life and head over to Youtube RIGHT NOW. Just plug in his name and click on search. He is amazing. It'll be a travesty if this guy doesn't win American Idol this year, especially since now Michael Johns is out of it. The guy rocks. Seriously. No one else could possibly make me fall in love with a Mariah Carey song. Ever. And I wanna Always Be HIS Baby. Just sayin'.

And yet again, I am off topic. Good thing this is my blog, huh? *whew* It's getting warm in here. Okay...fine...since I'm already off topic, be sure to watch his version of Billie Jean, Little Sparrow, Always Be My Baby, and Eleanor Rigby on Youtube. If you fall in love with those (and him!) (which you will), then check it all out.

Then after you're done with that, and you're in love with the guy like I am, and you want everything you can get your hands on that the guy has ever done....then you need to head over to Amazon and buy his solo album Analog Heart. Seriously. This is beyond awesome. THIS is the kind of album that we'll be getting from him if he wins AI. And this is by far a better album than any first album by any of the previous AI winners. Just sayin'. I love him. I love his voice. I love his heart. And I love this album. Buy it.

Oh yeah...and David is a self-proclaimed "Word Nerd". I love that too. Because I have always had a thing for words. If you've read some of my more obsure, off-the-wall posts here, you know that I love literature and writing poetry...and I love music with lyrics that mean something. Typically, it is a song's lyrics that draw me in before anything else. And that is definitely the case with the Analog Heart album.

"I was a name across your lips, it's time to spit me out. I play the game when my heart rips, it's time to hear me out." (Fall Back Into Me).

"If you want to know the truth, you make or break my day. If you want to know the truth, I wouldn't have it any other way. I rest my head from running circles 'round my mind on why you let go. No answers to be found, romances all rewind, I guess I'll never know." (The Truth).

"You made me fall forever with no end in sight. When everything around is broken could you say that this felt right? You are, for contradiction's sake, everything I remember that I swore I'd forget." (Searchlights).

"I try to breathe deep. I try to find sleep. I try holding on to the same old song just because of a brand new verse. And I found what I always wanted as she walked away." (Stitches).

"Lost her way from everything she swore she knew, a friend. Run away from start to finish though it never ends. In her mind she is blinded by all she sees. Close your eyes, just pretend the bullet isn't there. No surprise, no need to pretend that no one really even cares. But in her eyes you will find the very best in me." (Makeover).

"When writing your history, I will always be a footnote, a distant memory, a warning sign of mistakes made." (Silver).

This guy...he has a voice that is MADE for recording. And he's really good to watch live too. The combination is just irresistable. Seriously.

Oh yeah...and while you're already buying the Analog Heart album on Amazon, head over to iTunes and download Cookie's performances and studio versions. And while you're there, buy the ones that Michael Johns did too. You won't regret it. They're awesome.

P.S. I love that David has so much going on in his personal life right now...and yet he refuses to talk about it or use it as a means for garnering "sympathy votes." He wants to win this shindig...but he wants to win it on his own merits, and not because he has one of the biggest, sweetest hearts out there. Vote for Cookie!

Michael Johns

In the biggest shock of the season (and IMO, the biggest shock in American Idol history), Michael Johns was eliminated last week from competition. MJ is gorgeous and insanely talented. He's a rock/soul singer from Australia (yes, Simon...ROCK/soul), and he seriously captured me. If you loved him on the show like I did, be sure to check out his previous bands Film and The Rising. You can find albums for both bands with his beautiful voice singing on iTunes. Also, if you want to hear what a solo album of Michael's might sound like, be sure to head over to Facebook. A solo album that he recorded a couple of years ago can be heard there. I'm particularly fond of "Wash Me" and "Fool's Gold" from that album, as you can hear his voice in all its sexy glory.

Sadly, MJ is no longer on AI, so he's not going to be on my TV screen for the rest of the season. But this week, he's been making the rounds of all the media outlets, with visits to the Today Show, Extra, Access Hollywood, Regis and Kelly, and countless other shows. Look out for him! He's out there. I have no doubt that he will be signed to a record deal and we'll be seeing an album from him around Christmas, or maybe in the early part of next year. And yes, I'll be finding a way to go to the AI Tour, for the first time ever. I've got to see this man live.

In the meanwhile, here are his performances from his time on AI. Enjoy!

Audition:

Hollywood Week: Bohemian Rhapsody

Top 24 Guys: Light My Fire

Top 20 Guys: Go Your Own Way

Top 16 Guys: Don't You (Forget About Me)

Top 12/Beatles: Across the Universe

Top 11/Beatles: A Day in the Life

Top 10/The Year You Were Born: We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions

Top 9/Dolly Parton: It's All Wrong, But It's All Right

Top 8/Inspiration: Dream On

Oh yeah...and since he is no longer in the competition, VOTE FOR DAVID COOK! He is the only other rocker left in the competition. We have to save him.
